We're committed to the Menopause Workplace Pledge (Women of Wellbeing) whereby we are:
- Recognising that the menopause can be an issue in the workplace and women (as well as transmen and non-binary) may need additional support
- Talking openly, positively and respectfully about the menopause
- Actively supporting and informing those affected by the menopause
As part of this ongoing commitment, we have created a standalone Menopause policy and supporting guidance for both colleagues and managers which outlines the provision of support to manage menopausal symptoms at work. The policy acknowledges that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution to menopause and so it is intended as a support guide for all colleagues.
Additional support and resources
- To mark and raise awareness of World Menopause Day on 18th October 2023, we held our third 'GC Virtual Menopause Cafe' where colleagues shared lived experiences, practical tips for managing symptoms and provided peer to peer support. Watch the recording of the session below. You can also access the slides from the session here.
- There's also this guide produced by the International Menopause Society and this one page brief produced by menopausethewrightway.com which provide more information about Cardiovascular Disease - the theme of World menopause Day 2023.
- We have created a 'GC Menopause Support Guide'
- We have created a Menopause Support Group on Teams to provide a safe space to ask questions, share experiences and recommendations with colleagues from across the group. You can request to join the support group here.
- You can watch the Menopause at Work Overview short video via the PAL App which gives a better understanding of the different stages and symptoms of the menopause, how symptoms can impact on work and relationships, long-term post menopause health risks and effective treatments and how managers can support people going through the menopause.
- You can watch a recording of the Menopause Awareness session which was held in April 2023 with Lisa Wright. Here are the slides which were shared through the Menopause Awareness Raising Session and the Menopause Support Guide from Menopause the Wright Way which was referred to in the training session and includes lots of information and links to information referenced in the session including information on the NICE Guidelines 2015 (about how to maximise an appointment with your GP), information on the HRT Pre paid prescription service, testosterone and also alternative HRT medications if someone is struggling to get the specific medication their GP may have prescribed.
