On the 10th October every year, we celebrate World Mental Health Day to help raise awareness and remind colleagues of the support available.
The official theme this year is 'It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace'.
At GC we want everyone who works here to feel they can be themselves, be open about their mental health and ask for support if they need it. Together, we can build a future where mental health is a priority and the cornerstone of a thriving, resilient workforce.
Why not organise an activity to mark World Mental Health Day?
As in previous years, we're encouraging colleagues to organise an activity to connect with others such as through a Tea & Talk, a wellbeing walk or a team lunch.
Research shows that talking is good for your mental health, and that’s what Tea & Talk is all about! It's a great way to come together with friends, family or colleagues and help raise awareness.
Here are some useful resources if you'd like to better understand GC's commitment to mental health and some of support and resources that are available to colleagues:
- Talking Tips Resource.pdf (mentalhealth.org.uk)
- Ice Breaker Resource.pdf (mentalhealth.org.uk)
- Staying Mentally Well Resource.pdf (mentalhealth.org.uk)

- 5 Ways to Wellbeing toolkit – for practical ideas on how to promote good mental health.
- Wellness Action Plan – is a tool which everyone can use. You don't need to have a mental illness in order to feel the benefits. It just means that you already have practical steps in place to develop your own personal coping strategies and ensure you are supported when you aren't feeling great.
