Our AI Principles
GC’s cross-group AI Steering Group, which met for the first time in July, will help us work across the group to shape GC’s use of AI.
This includes having some clear principles in place to support and guide colleagues.
The infographic outlines our AI principles, which cover the following:
- Values driven
Our use of AI tools will be guided by our strong company values and ethics. It will be reflective of our commitment to inclusivity and will protect against discrimination, bias or prejudice.
- People centred
AI should enhance customer experience, making our services more accessible and easier to use while maintaining our personal approach. It should not compromise the physical safety or mental integrity of others.
- Secure
We have clear data security and privacy policies at GC that should apply equally to our use of AI. Do not enter any personal identifiable or commercially sensitive information into open AI tools such as ChatGTP, co-pilot (web mode), Claude, google bard, and others.
- Responsible
Always treat data and system use in accordance with how you would normally go about your work. If in doubt about hte latest legal and regulatory requirements governing the use of AI, please contact ai@growthco.uk for advice.
- Accountable
AI is not a replacement for human judgement or oversight. Any AI system introduced at GC will have accountable owners with clear roles and responsibilities. If something goes wrong, we are responsible and need to be able to take action straight away.
- Transparent
AI tools can help to enhance our productivity, efficiency, and creativity but we should only use AI providers and tools that are transparent about how they work and how they make decisions.
- Collaborative
We want to encourage colleagues to generate ideas or test AI tools that may be beneficial to their role, or to the wider organisation. We've created a dedicated mailbox, ai@growthco.uk for you to share these experiences and answer any questions you may have.
- Open-minded
Overall, we want colleagues to embrace the opportunities of AI, keeping open-minded about the positive application and the impact of AI and contributing ideas on how it can enhance the work we do to support people, businesses and communities.
Colleagues should also familiarise themselves with our AI Policy.
