Calendar of Mandatory Training

One of the common themes that we identified in both the Colleague Survey and our Investors in People (IIP) feedback, that people managers would like to enhance their people management skills and understand GC’s people management processes better.

In order to ensure that policies and procedures are applied consistently, and build confidence to cultivate a thriving team, it's been agreed that a more structured approach to management development is needed.

Following on from the group-wide communications about mandatory training in December 2023, we also wanted to give managers more information about the modules which form part of the Group-wide Corporate Induction Training for new starters – alongside the mandated training for all new managers.

This will provide you with clarity and enable you to manage performance and expectations from day one with colleagues and track the status of your training.

Induction Training

The table below sets out the requirements for all new starters within the Group (this doesn’t include training which is role or business unit specific). Colleagues must complete this training and cannot pass their probation until it has been completed.

Managers must ensure that new starters have completed their training. Progress against the training can be tracked in PAL; for more information please check these FAQs.

This list will continually be added to as additional modules are developed.

People Managers

As a People Manager, you have an important role in enabling and empowering your team(s) to thrive in the workplace. As part of our ongoing commitment to develop our leadership skills, we’ve developed people manager-specific training. This will ensure a more consistent approach to how our colleagues are managed throughout their employment with GC – starting from the recruitment and on-boarding process, through to dealing with any employment matters, should it arise.

New Managers

This training will be assigned to all managers who’ve started with GC in the past 18 months. If you’ve already attended these courses, this will be reflected in your PAL account.
