World Mental Health Day will take place on Monday 10 October. The theme is ‘making mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’ and at The Growth Company (GC), this year we wanted to focus on financial wellbeing knowing how money and mental health are interlinked.

With the recent rise in energy bills, combined with growing interest rates and the potential impact on mortgages and rent, many people in the UK are worried about how the rising cost of living will affect them.

As part of our commitment to encouraging people to be more open about money so that they feel able to access support if needed, colleagues are invited to join a virtual Let's Talk Money and Energy Cost Savings Webinar Energy Saving webinar on Tuesday 8th November 12-1pm, key points we will cover during the session:

  • Energy saving advice including understanding your energy bills, energy efficiency in buildings and real-life case studies from GC employees
  • Top energy saving tips
  • How to budget
  • Top tips for those worried about their rent or mortgage payments
  • Signpost to additional support and resources
  • Q&A

Click here to add the invite to your calendar. This employee led session will be a safe space to ask questions and talk about money, feel free to share the invite with your GC colleagues. Please note, this session does not offer financial advice, but it will include further signposting to free and impartial advice should you need to speak to an expert about your individual circumstances.

We know that many people are feeling the strain as the cost of living continues to increase. Financial worries can take over our lives, creeping into our everyday thoughts and causing a huge degree of stress and anxiety. We can feel uprooted by unexpected costs, and it’s easy to let worries spiral into something much larger. If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to face it alone, as a reminder, there are a number of resources to access including Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), Mental Health First Aiders and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy.

Additional support, tools and information

We’ve created a Financial Wellbeing section on Our Working Way which signposts to a range of free resources that cover lots of topics including a mental health and money toolkit, how to handle debts when unwell, making the most of your money, free debt counselling, energy saving tips and much more.
