In 2022/23, food banks in the UK had nearly 3 million users, this is over 50% higher than 5 years ago, with the North West having the third highest food bank usage in the UK (source: The Trussell Trust).
Due to the increase in food bank usage, the Working Well: Support to Succeed team are co-ordinating a food drop to collect and distribute food to those who need it most. Food will be distributed across various locations in Manchester.
When: Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th April
What: please bring in any non-perishable food, canned food, dry pantry items, or toiletries to donate. Specific items food banks have requested are:
- Coffee
- Tuna
- Corned beef
- Curry sauces
- Tinned meat/stew
- Washing up liquid
- Washing tablets/powder
- Shampoo – own brands offer best value for money
