GC Business Growth Hub (BGH) has hosted the MacMillan Coffee Morning for the past 5 years, raising money to help support the charity which in 2019 raised an incredible £27.5m in total.  As we continue to face the challenges this pandemic has brought, in terms of social distancing and for many of us being separated from family, friends and loved ones, I am delighted to announce that this year we will be hosting a virtual Macmillan Coffee Morning for the Group thanks to the BGH Isolation Champions. We have some exciting plans for everyone to get together virtually across GC to enjoy a cuppa and a cake.

The official date for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Friday 25 September, for a small donation to our GC Coffee Morning you can join in bingo, a quiz, raffle and more.

On Tuesday 22 September you can join in ‘Bake off with Lex’ and the winner will be announced at our virtual MacMillan Coffee Morning. Get in touch with Justine Booth for more information about the event and to find out the recipe.

If cake isn’t your cup of tea and you’d rather be out and about staying fit and active, throughout the rest of August through to Friday 18 September we are hosting 5 for a fiver or 10 for a tenner.  You choose to do run 5k or 10k, or if you’d prefer 5 steps or 10 steps and donate the equivalent to our GC Coffee Morning. You don’t even have to do it all in one go if you don’t want to!

If you’re happy to, it would be great if you could make a record, take pictures and tell us why you’re doing the challenge before Friday 18 September for us to share during our Macmillan day.

One in two of us will face cancer, which is a shockingly awful statistic and the money raised is vital to help continue to fund this charity to help those living with cancer receive the physical, financial and emotional support needed.  We hope you can join us on the day to raise money for this great charity and get together with colleagues and friends across the Group.

We will share more details of what we have in store closer to the time but for now you can put the date in your calendar. If you are planning something in a smaller group or have any ideas for what we can do to help raise money please get in touch. We’re looking forward to hearing about what things you have done (large and small) to help raise funds for Macmillan on the day.

Now to look up a recipe for coffee cake.
