The GC Macmillan Coffee Morning is next week, it’s come round so fast, and with your support, we are on well on our way to reaching our target, but as a Group I think we could even beat it!
From the moment a person is diagnosed with cancer, through treatment and beyond, Macmillan is there to provide much needed emotional, physical and financial support. With someone in the UK being diagnosed with cancer every two minutes, the work of Macmillan has never been more important. So, let’s all do our bit to help support those living with and fighting cancer.
There are lots happening for you take part in and to help us smash our fundraising target:
Berrywood comes to GC: Bake Off with Lex Tuesday 22 September 2020
It wouldn’t be a Macmillan Coffee Morning without a bit of baking and the competition for Bake Off with Lex is hotting up.
Alexia Rhodes, Business Growth Hub Project Management Executive, will be hosting a virtual bake-off competition with fellow judge and “Queen of the Coffee Morning” Lauren Roberts, Business Growth Hub Digital Transformation Lead Project Manager. The session will be live on Tuesday 22 September and your challenge is to bake the classic Victoria sponge cake. Entrants will be asked to submit photos for judging (cake fresh from the oven, fully decorated and then cross-section/slice). Please email Justine Booth for details of how to take part and the all-important recipe. Of course, you don’t have to take part in the baking, you can join in and support colleagues on the day by watching the baking live at 12 pm but don’t forget to donate as every little helps.
Get Active – in our 5k for a fiver or 10k for a tenner ending this week.
If you have taken part in ‘Get Active’ well done you! We have received some great photos which we will share with on our GC Coffee Morning but it’s not too late for you to get involved. Whether you do 5k or 10, walking or running we’d like you to share your pictures and tell us why you’ve taken part and donated before Friday 18 September.
The main event
Our GC Coffee Morning is on Friday 25 September. For a small donation you will have access to the ‘Hub Tavern’ which will be hosting a quiz, bingo and raffle throughout the day. You can take part without donating beforehand and can donate on the day. Here’s what’s on:
8:45 - 9:45 am – Coffee Morning Session with virtual bingo and a mini quiz all about Macmillan, the support they offer and why we’re raising money for this charity.
10:30 - 11:30 am – Coffee Morning Session (repeat of the first session for those who aren’t early birds)
12:00 - 1:00 pm – The BIG QUIZ get a team together (4 - 6 people), give yourself a great name, nominate a team captain and register by emailing Justine Booth by Thursday 24 September.
2:00 - 2:15 pm – Round up of the day including winners (bake-off, quizzes, bingo), runners up, raffle and amount raised.
2:30 – 3:30 pm – Something for the weekend, welcome to the after-party. This is an opportunity to wind down after the working week, join us for some music and a surprise or two to get you in the weekend mood.
To enter the raffle you simply have to take part in any of the activities and donate. If you have any questions or would like to know more about the activities, feel free to get in touch Justine Booth.
There is so much to get involved in, from baking to bingo, there really isn’t an excuse to not take part, so I’ll see you there!
