GC play a key role in The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, as well as being a Member.
On Tuesday 2nd July, the Charter held their third-annual Good Employment Awards at the Whitworth Hall, in central Manchester, celebrating employment excellence across the city-region.
These awards showcase the 'best of the best' in Greater Manchester, recognising organisations and leaders who put their people first, champion work – underpinned by a commitment to equality, fair pay and all-round good employment standards.
About the awards, GC colleague, Carol Halford, Head of Charter Unit told us:
"We celebrated our awards with 240 attendees last year, but this year we expanded our awards to include SME and larger organisations, which allowed us to invite 280 passionate attendees, demonstrating Charter Network's growth.
"The night was filled with inspiring speeches, heartfelt thanks and a shared vision for the future of employment in Greater Manchester. Highlights included Paul Nowak, General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress, who emphasised the importance of sustainable and inclusive employment practices."
The winners, spanning a diverse range of sectors, demonstrated what it means to be a good employer. From innovative family-friendly policies to, key mental health support initiatives, each awardee demonstrated an unwavering commitment to their workforce.
Andy Burnham’s Employer of the Year 2024 award was given to Adept Corporate Services, whose approach set’s a new benchmark for excellence. Their story serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when employers prioritise the well-being and development of their team.
