Earlier last month, our Refugee Employability Programme (REP) and RESTART teams hosted a 'Celebrating Diversity through Food' Festival at our Rotherham office – organised by GC Service Manager, Alicia-Marie Jankowski.
Colleagues were tasked with bringing in staple cuisines from various different countries and cultures for their colleagues to sample. The teams also took part in a quiz from around the globe.
Mohammad Adeel, GC Employment Adviser, said about the event:
"This amazing event was arranged by Alicia and the team really enjoyed it. I cooked an Asian Pakistani dish called Keema (Mince) and Aaloo (potatoes) with Muttor (green peas) and I made yogurt salad called Raita, which is made with Greek yogurt, roasted cumin, boiled potatoes, chopped fresh mint, black salt, chat masala, chopped and chilled red onions, and Asian savouries called Phulkian.
"Everyone from the Restart and REP Rotherham Teams brought their own diverse and delicious food and I loved trying different dishes made by my lovely work colleagues. I don't have enough words to praise the event and be a part of it'."
