Team BGH joined the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity fundraising Bus Pull
On 22nd August, Team GM Business Growth Hub joined the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity Fundraising Bus Pull to raise money for the battle against homelessness across the city-region.
Nick Shepherd, Matt Richardson, Leah Watson, Stephanie Boyle and Liam Connors, batted against others to pull the bus in the quickest time against other teams.
The event was a family-friendly day out with live music, entertainment, drinks and food.
About the event and the fundraising Nick Shepherd, Business Development & Partnerships Manager for BGH said:
“We were proud to take part in the GM Mayor’s Charity Bus Pull yesterday as we all pulled together (and a bus) to raise money to tackle homelessness across Greater Manchester. Overall, we managed to raise £500 which will provide vital funds to those experiencing challenging times. Whilst we banded together as a team, it is important to remember the stark reality that 17,600 young people in the North West considered homelessness in the past year and 109,000 households currently sit in temporary accommodation to which much of the fundraising efforts from across the day will go on to support.”
Stephanie Boyle, Senior Events Manager told us:
"It felt great to get involved in an activity as a team to raise money and awareness for a really important cause. I think so many of us take for granted that we have somewhere safe and warm to go home to each day but the sad reality is there are far too many people, young people, for whom that isn’t the case. I’m so pleased we had the opportunity to make a difference but its important to keep helping to raise awareness around homelessness. A big thankyou to the Growth Company for always making us aware of these events and encouraging us to take part. Well done to the Mayor’s Charity for the incredible work they do."

That £100 can pay for a PhD student's cost for one day to equip them with the skills they'll need to make the research breakthroughs for the future. Well done Tanya!
