As we approach the end of the year, GC Team Green are looking forward to continuing the work we’ve started in 2023. As we look to the future, we want to take this opportunity to reflect on everything the group has achieved to date.
Since its beginning in October 2022, our group has grown to almost 60 colleagues across a variety of service areas and business units.
A key highlight of the past year was the GC Team Green Bitesize Lunch and Learn session we hosted back in July. During the session, we talked about why environmental awareness is important and shared some ideas and tips on how we can reduce our negative impact and make a positive difference. We also explained more about GC’s commitment to achieve net zero by 2035. If you missed the webinar, you can watch the recording here.
A group of our members also took part in a Hedgehog Friendly litter pick in June at Peel Park, Salford. The group set off from Lee House, litter picking along the way before joining the Salford Ranger at the park.
We’ve also kicked off lots of exciting conversations. We got the ball rolling on the introduction of donation points for pre-loved cookware across GC sites with Cracking Good Food, with the first donation point now in place in Lee House.
We’re also looking into including businesses that offer green technologies onto our GC Hive platform, which means we could soon be eligible for offers that allow us to adopt new technologies, such as solar panels, at home at a discounted rate.
We’ve also had some interesting discussions about catering for GC events and how as an organisation we can make greener choices when it comes to options.
We’re proud of what we have achieved so far, and we look forward to building on these ideas over the next 12 months. If you would like to get involved in these exciting developments or share your own ideas with the group, we would love to have you join our team.
