LinkedIn has lots of advantages over other social networks.

As the one platform that's mostly focused on communicating with other professionals, it's a great place for companies to advertise their brand, as well as their mission and vision.

Quite simply, it's an easier network to crack in terms of building a quality network and targeting the audience that you're trying to reach.

Here's a list of seven quick, easy actions you can take to improve your LinkedIn experience and communication flow.

  • "The Magic Ten" - Think about doing 10 interactions a day, comment, like, and share. Each one of these is one interaction.

  • Network - Remember to build and grow your network. Connect with 10 people per week of your choice that you feel will be valuable in your network.

  • Profile - Look critically at your profile and make sure that it really declares who you are and what you stand for. Make sure you're using all the right keywords.

  • Routine - Try and get into the habit of posting. Ideally, you should be posting up to three times a week. Keep in mind that sharing content, such as a news story or a friend's update, can be counted as a post.

The trick is to put your own mark on it with your own slant of what you're asking people to do and then you can take the glory of comments, likes, and shares on your post. Aim to post in the morning. Posts published in the morning usually have the highest engagement, with a slight increase occurring again after business hours.

  • Use hashtags - You could also add a number of hashtags below the main text of your LinkedIn post. If you press "enter" once or twice, it will drop your cursor down by a line or two, where you can add your hashtags to associate the content with these topics.

When the LinkedIn user sees your post in their feed, the hashtags will be hidden. They are only visible when the user chooses to "see more" from your post. This is a great way to add hashtags without over-complicating how the post looks to your audience; this generally increases comprehension and engagement.

  • Action - In your LinkedIn posts, ask for action. Don't just expect people to comment, like, and share. If you want them to do something, ask them to comment properly. You can use polls and other tools to get interactivity, but don't be afraid to ask - people will usually be receptive and willing to show themselves out there too.

Encourage sharing: get your employees/colleagues to share your posts to increase reach and credibility. In this way, they can act as brand ambassadors, and reinforce the mission and vision of the company.

  • Mentions - This last tip is a great way of getting in front of other people and getting to a broader network. As well as including hashtags, try to use @mentions. You can fan out the reach and engagement of your content on LinkedIn by tagging relevant companies and members of your professional network who might be interested in the content or directly involved in the content topic.

This will also show your content to the tagged member's professional network. As well as tagging members of your professional network, you should also tag relevant employees and co-workers to increase the reach and engagement levels of your content with the tagged members and their professional networks.

These are all great ways of communicating on LinkedIn. These tactics will make a difference in reaching more people and further exposing the GC brand.
