Keeping Doing Good

Last week (Monday 27 July), we launched Keep Doing Good, the National Citizen Service’s (NCS) programme for 15-17s this summer, to encourage them to get out and about in their community and be part of the COVID recovery, through volunteering and social action. They pledge 16 hours of their time, and spend a week meeting new people, gaining new skills and giving back to their community.

Thousands of teens have already signed up and started Doing Good, right across the North West!

In Bury and Manchester, teens volunteering with our Direct Delivery team have been working with Incredible Edible, preparing the ground for the local forest school, clearing the urban parks of litter, and raising their voices about issues they care about, with The People’s History Museum. All our projects are socially distanced and COVID secure, and our staff are finding innovative and creative ways to get the young people interacting and communicating.

If you know a young person who’s 15-17 and wants to ‘Do Good’ this summer, send them to www.wearencs.com for more information and to sign up.

We are working with the GC Education and Skills to offer NCS activities to young people joining programmes this autumn – more news to follow!

For more information about NCS get in touch with Helen Hawxwell.

Hope you have a nice weekend, despite the restrictions in place in Greater Manchester.
