At GC we're committed to the Menopause Workplace Pledge (Women of Wellbeing) whereby we are:

  • Recognising that the menopause can be an issue in the workplace and women (as well as trans and non-binary people) may need additional support
  • Talking openly, positively and respectfully about the menopause
  • Actively supporting and informing those affected by the menopause

To celebrate and raise awareness of World Menopause Day on 18th October, the GC Menopause Support Group are hosting our fourth annual virtual Menopause Café on Wednesday 9th October 10-11am, which will include Lisa Wright from Menopause the Wright Way and Carla Nuttall – Executive Director of Corporate Services and Marketing, and SMT Sponsor for EDI.

What to expect from the session:

This session is open to anybody (of all ages and gender) to attend as it’s a topic which either affects people personally, or you might know a friend, partner or colleague going through this life transition – so it’s worthwhile understanding more about this and having the opportunity to ask questions and share recommendations.

During this informal session, we’ll share some useful resources, as well as provide an update on steps GC are taking to offer more support in this area: Menopause Support and Guidance | Our Working Way Staff Hub (growthco.uk). The theme for World Menopause Day this year is ‘Menopause Hormone Therapy’, so we’ll cover some key points on this as part of a holistic approach to managing menopause symptoms including:

  • Lifestyle factors which can reduce symptoms including nutrition, activity, exercise and the impact on our mental health
  • Complementary and alternative treatments
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT / MRT):
    • Misconceptions
    • Is it right for me (risks?)
    • Types
    • Accessing HRT
  • Q&A

We’ve created this short anonymous survey – if you have any questions or specific areas you’d like us to cover in the session, and to get your feedback on the GC Menopause Policy and current support, we’d appreciate it if you could complete the survey as soon as possible so that we can prepare in advance of the session.

The café will be an open, respectful and confidential space where people can express their views safely.

We hope to see you there. A calendar invite for this Teams event has been published.
