Colleagues from across the Growth Company took part in 'Wear it Pink Day' to raise awareness of Breast Cancer.
Every year around 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer and that means every 10 minutes in the UK, 1 woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and, if nothing changes, this will rise to 1 woman every 8 minutes by 2030. Breast cancer is a disease that only women fight, you might be surprised to hear that 1 man in the UK is diagnosed with breast cancer every day - so it is important that we know what to look out for and how to get involved in fighting this disease.
Did you know ....
- Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UK.
- 1 in 7 UK women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Around 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed every year.
- 11,500 women and 85 men die from breast cancer every year.
- The sooner breast cancer is found, the more successful treatment is likely to be.

Colleagues learnt how to become breast aware and helped raise life-changing funds to support breast cancer research, and how to offer support for those suffering from this illness.

Our Work and Health and Pioneer Team had a fantastic day raising awareness for Breast cancer they:
- decorated the office with all things breast cancer aware
- brought in pink packaged food
- Everyone wore pink as well as a pink cowboy hat, and strategically placed balloons
- Celebrated every donation made to Breast Cancer Now, whether it was in the office or colleagues working from home each donation received a bell ring and Mexican waves.
The team raised a fantastic total of £311.
Below are some pictures from the day:
Primark
The Aspire team visited Primark in Manchester city centre to spread awareness about all things breast cancer. The team were shocked to find out over 50% of the people they spoke to do not check their breasts for any changes and 100% of the men they spoke to had never even thought to check themselves.
So, what can we all do? Touch, Look and Check and if you are ever in doubt speak to your GP!
