In the week ahead it is expected that the Government will share its plans for how the current lockdown measures may be eased. Whilst we continue to prioritise our safety and wellbeing, observing public health guidelines and looking after each other, we will increasingly be called upon to contribute to the economic recovery through the vital business, employment and skills support we deliver.
Our thinking on how GC should approach recovery has commenced and will have to remain agile given the uncertainties and evolving nature of Covid19 and the responses to it. Your thoughts on this would be welcome and we will begin to share ideas over the coming weeks.
In the meantime, I wanted to return again to the key issue of mental health and wellbeing. This is something I have been particularly mindful of throughout this crisis and I think it’s fair to say that the longer we remain in lockdown, whether on furlough or managing workload - often alongside caring responsibilities – the more challenging and limbo-like it can feel.
This month, Mental Health Awareness Week will take place from 18-24 May and we will be marking this in a number of ways – one of these will be to share details of enhanced mental health and wellbeing support for you. We are currently looking at what this may include and we will be asking for your help to shape what that looks like.
As always, I thank you for the amazing work and outcomes you are all continuing to achieve and when we get time we need to share and acknowledge what you have accomplished in extreme circumstances.
