GC Employment colleague, Emma Simpson volunteers at the Chorley Women's Centre and is helping the venue to raise vital funds to help make the venue more accessible.

Chorley Women’s Centre has been serving the local community in Chorley, Lancashire, for 40 years.

They offer free counselling, drop-in sessions, a listening service, community outreach events and much more. They primarily focus on adult women but also offer services in the community to all genders and children.

Why raise funds

The centre wants to become more accessible for people with mobility needs, and need £8000 to reach their goal and are hoping to raise enough money to install downstairs facilities, widen doorways and open up the downstairs area to make it more open plan as well as rip out the existing bathroom upstairs to create an additional therapy room.

GC Employment colleague Emma Simpson said, "As voluntary treasurer of the women’s centre,I want to do all I can to help the centre achieve their goals. We are currently in the middle of a mammoth effort to raise funds to make the venue accessible, this will enable them to provide more support to women in the area."
