As an organisation, we have a commitment to make sure everyone at GC are competent, trained and confident to carry out their roles. To support this, we have a package of mandatory training courses that all employees are required to complete, including training on Data Protection (with a focus on GDPR), Information Security and Equality, Inclusion and Diversity.

As part of our ongoing review of training, we have identified that a significant number of people have not completed their annual Information Security training. Not only does this training equip you with the knowledge you need to manage your information security obligations, but it is also a formal contractual requirement of many of our major contracts and stakeholders.

What is Information Security training?

Our Information Security training helps to raise awareness of security threats, reduce the risks associated with cyber-attacks and embed a culture of security compliance within the Group.

Everyone needs to complete this training so that you know how to identify an information security incident, cyber threat, and phishing attempt and what you must do to ultimately protect our data. This training highlights the importance of your role in safeguarding our data and therefore helps mitigate the risk of information security incidents and embeds a culture of cybersecurity and information security awareness.

EVERYONE, including managers, the Senior Leadership Team and the Group Senior Management Team must complete this training.

Please take a moment to log into the MyLearning portal, available via My Apps, as soon as possible to check whether you need to complete your training. You need to log in with your username (for example, MSLABC) and password (you will have set this password when you first used MyLearning, therefore will not necessarily be the same as the password you use to log onto your laptop, you can re-set the password using the link if required).

Once you’re logged in, click into ‘my courses’. If it doesn’t show 100% on the Information Security course, you will need to complete this training by Friday 30 October.

To fully complete this course, you must:

  • Complete all of the chapters in this module including the self-assessment exercises and the knowledge check questions at the end of each chapter.
  • Complete the knowledge assessment at the end of the module with a grade of 80% or more.
  • You will then be awarded the Information Security Badge. When the badge expires, you will be required to undertake refresher training.

To complement this training, all the GC information security policies and procedures are available for you to view on the intranet.

If you have any queries, or you have issues with logging in, you can contact the Learning and Development Team.

Thank you,

Paul Simpson,
