This week, colleagues took part on a volunteering opportunity in partnership with Manchester Pride in Manchester city centre.

Every first Wednesday of the month, a dedicated team of volunteers help maintain the vibrancy of Sackville Gardens, a crucial space for our LGBTQ+ community.

Sackville Gardens proudly hosts three major LGBTQ+ monuments, including the Beacon of Hope, the Alan Turing memorial, and the Trans memorial. This beautiful space is also the heart of our annual Pride celebrations, including the Candlelit Vigil.

Engaging in the upkeep of this space not only contributes to its well-being, but also provides a fantastic opportunity to clear your mind, foster closer connections, and build brilliant relationships with your colleagues and members of the community.

Volunteering on the day, Laura Dean - Partnership & Integration Manager said:

"It was a brilliant afternoon the sun was shining! It was nice to get out and do something positive to keep a local garden space clean and tidy. It was also a good opportunity to get to know colleagues from across other business areas."

Billie Kemp, Partnership & Integration Manager and Co-chair of our LGBTQ+ EDI Network said:

"I was honoured to have joined forces with Manchester Pride for an uplifting afternoon of volunteering at Sackville Gardens! It was truly inspiring to witness the power of community coming together, united by a common goal of spreading love and positivity, working together to take care of the green space that is at the centre of The Village. A huge shoutout to Manchester Pride for their invaluable partnership and to every individual who lent their time and energy to make this event a success. Together, we are not just gardening; we are cultivating a more inclusive, vibrant, and welcoming community for all."
