Eight of our learners offered roles at Liverpool Cruise Terminal
Eight of our learners have completed a training programme with us for the vacancies of female security personnel at the Liverpool Cruise Terminal.
We deliver a tailor made programme, which includes Level 1 Customer Service, Health & Safety in the workplace, team work and interview prep. We also support the learners with their online ACT learning and their self-study SIA workbook, which is required prior to their SIA Training (SIA is a mandatory requirement to work in the security industry).
All of the learners have now been offered the role and invited to the welcome meet & greet workshop by Cruise Liverpool.
Michelle Abraham, Business Advisor - AEB Works, in the Education & Skills team told us:
“ It was a pleasure to support this group of ladies. They all gave 100% dedication to their learning and their attitude and commitment was a testament to their own success.”
In a recent social media post, Billy Callaghan, Regional Contract Manager at Carlisle Support Services said:
"We're really proud to present our new SIA staff intake today at Liverpool Cruise. Their first day, seen here joining a few of the team at a workshop training day put on by our client Cruise Liverpool. 8 brand new Females that now takes our female staffing here up to 40% of the establishment. Many thanks to our Jamie Jones, along with Michele Abraham at the Growth Company & the DWP".
About the experience, Phina, one of the learners said:
"I thought I was unemployable, largely because it was very difficult for me... not to find work, I have always had an easy time of that... but to do the on boarding, the training and all the paperwork required to get through the doors.
I was very nervous prior to taking it, I was quite cynical about it, but on near completion of the course, I'm starting to see how much preparation was needed for me to change fields, to gather the documents, to onboard successfully. The learning was exactly what you need to feel confident prior to entering for your SIA badge and entering what for me will be a completely new work environment. Thank you one and all for a very positive, life changing experience".
Supporting our learners doesn't always stop when the course ends...
When you've supported a learner to help them realise their career ambitions, it's fantastic to hear back from them when they secure employment in a role.
Paul Orton, Skills Development Tutor (Technical Sectors) has been supporting learner Raza Khaliq with his Level 2 Diploma in Plastering - which he finished with Paul last month. Paul helped set up an interview for a job for Raza and he recently attended the interview.
Paul told that it's great to see learners progressing into employment - he said:
"I received an email from Raza after the interview we set up for him last Friday – safe to say it was good news. He explained that he had just finished from the interview and it went very well.
"He told me they talked about the work they do and how the company works, and he showed them his portfolio and they were very impressed. He got the job and will be starting on 15th April. He explained that he really appreciated my help and support throughout and after the diploma.
"For him to achieve employment after producing excellent work within his course of learning is great to see."
