The EDI Networks work hard to ensure our internal and external activities reflect inclusive and equitable practices and aim to address societal challenges across all the areas that GC’s operates.
At GC, we are unable to maximise our positive impact with customers, clients, colleagues, communities on such societal challenges if we do not embed EDI within our daily operations. How we recruit, retain and develop colleagues within our organisation is key to working to address some of these challenges, ensuring that we continue to review progress and continue to strengthen our partnerships with communities and representative bodies that can hold us accountable.
Nadir Sultan, a Chair of the EDI Religion and Faith Network said:
“In the Growth Company, we seek to better understand all faith groups and religions and create an environment in GC where colleagues can share their personal beliefs without discrimination. We regularly come together as a group to discuss any issues or recommendations on how GC accommodates Religion & Faith in the workplace.”
Key achievements 2020-2024
The change in GC’s approach to EDI and has resulted in improvements in our EDI demographic as follows:
- Diverse ethnic communities representation increased from 12% to 18%
- LGBTQ+ representation increased from 4.2% to 7.12%.
- Disability representation increased 9.7% to 16.4%.
- GC’s gender split remains stable from female 60% male 40% to female 61% male 39%.
- Ethnicity pay gap reduced from 7.3% to 1%. ·
We have demonstrated progress since we started monitoring our performance in 2020, but this is an ongoing journey, and we continuously improve to ensure we become more representative of the communities we support.
EDI Network Member, Anushka Parekh said:
Having been a member of the EDI for 3 years now, Its great to see the different networks connecting diverse voices and experiences across GC. For me, it brings a sense of belonging as I feel heard, respected, and represented. This inclusivity has helped to foster an inclusive culture and also drives innovation with different thoughts and ideas of other colleagues. I have enjoyed being involved in many campaigns and with the intersectionality of other networks, its amazing to see the representation across GC. It’s apparent that GC makes EDI a key priority and has been raising awareness through workshops, campaigns and discussions."
Over the next 12 months we will:
- Launch a new EDI strategy
- Introduce a new exit survey to collect more qualitative data on the reasons colleagues choose to leave GC
- Update the EDI module on PAL
- Continue to educate and raise awareness engaging colleagues and key stakeholders
- Continue to provide practical tools to promote and enable an inclusive culture
