‘Ain’t I a Woman?’ by Bell Hooks (1981) 

Black feminist, Bell Hooks, uses moving personal accounts to illustrate her theory that racism is inherent in the thought of many middle-class white feminists who have failed to address issues of race and class.

‘Poor’ by Caleb Femi (2020) 

Poor is a collection of both poetry and imagery exploring what life was like growing up as a black boy on a council estate in Peckham, South London.

Another ‘Spike Lee Joint’ documenting an amazing true story of Ron Stalllsworth and a small team of police infiltrating a local Klan chapter to try to stop looming violence. Available to watch on Amazon Prime.

‘Rocks’ (2019) - Directed by Sarah Gavron 

A coming-of-agedrama film directed by Sarah Gavron. The film stars Bukky Bakray as Olushola, nicknamed "Rocks", a Black British teenage girl living in Hackney, London, whose single mother abandons her and her younger brother Emmanuel  forcing them to try to avoid being taken into social services.

The third studio album and major label debut studio album by American singer and rapper and activist, Lizzo. 

 

‘Timeless’ by Goldie (1995) 

The debut studio album by British electronic musician, Birmingham born, Goldie. It’s universally regarded as a ground-breaking release in the history of drum and bass music.
